Tesco is to launch its clothing range internationally as the company focuses on expansion.

Clothingattesco.com is to launch this month and will initially offer delivery to EU countries, who are already familiar with the in store clothing label, F&F. Spain and France will also be involved in the initial focus on the clothing range due to the high number of British nationals living in these countries. Jill Easterbrook, Tesco Clothing Director, explained that this was a key factor in deciding to expand the offer abroad.

“Our loyal online following tells us they want to be able to buy fashionable, good value clothes from us and have them sent outside the UK,” she commented. “We think there is a great opportunity to reach British customers who have relocated to countries such as Spain. “Our customer call centre frequently receives queries from people all over the world asking whether we can deliver to their country.”

Launched in October 2009, Tesco’s online clothing business has grown ahead of the market and in the last six months alone online clothing sales were up 45 per cent. The retailer offers exclusive brands and extended ranges via e-commerce, heightening popularity.

Easterbrook continued: “By offering a delivery service to customers in a number of European countries not only are we testing the popularity of such a service, but also gauging the response to our clothing offer in these new markets.”
