“For more than one year, my foundation has been actively
taking part in preserving the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. We support a project implemented in 2010 by a Brazilian NGO to plant 100,000 trees in Bahia. On this Second Forest Day, I am counting on you to visit the Anne Fontaine stores, have a great time, and be part of the reforestation of our planet.” Anne FontaineLast year, Anne Fontaine created the Forest Day, a special in-store event in which 50% of the sales from the Anne Fontaine stores all over the world are donated to the Anne Fontaine Foundation in order to fund the reforestation and conservation of the Atlantic Forest in Brazil.
The First Forest Day was a success! Thanks to a massive presence of our generous clients, the Anne Fontaine Foundation was able to sponsor its first reforestation project in the Atlantic Forest in Brazil.
The Second Forest Day will take place on November 17, 2012, in all Anne Fontaine stores worldwide.
Art and the Environment: featuring an artistic tree
On each Forest Day, the Anne Fontaine Foundation collaborates with artists whose work is inspired by nature or is produced with recycled materials.
For the Second Forest Day, French artists Charles Macaire and Patricia Gueyrard, both specialized in the crafting of folded paper, designed and created a tree that will decorate the Anne Fontaine store windows. The tree was fabricated by Moroccan artisans and partially made with natural Kraft paper.
The Anne Fontaine Foundation is a nonprofit organization qualified as a private foundation tax-exempt under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. This region is highly threatened by deforestation and is on the brink of extinction. Through its efforts, the Foundation supports a project established through a partnership with The Nature Conservancy, and a local Brazilian NGO – Instituto Floresta Viva. The project started in 2010 and aims to plant 100,000 trees by the end of 2012.
The Foundation is additionally a member of the United Nations’ Billion Tree Campaign, which strives to plant a billion trees worldwide per year in order to fight against desertification of the planet.
