Footwear and apparel label Timberland has appointed Mariano Alonso as its new

vice president of sales for the EMEA region.

The new appointment follows the company’s recent changes at senior executive level as it looks to accelerate its growth. Alonso will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies to drive the business across all EMEA wholesale and distributor markets. He will report into Timo Schmidt-Eisenhart, president Timberland EMEA.

Alonso joins from Camper where he held the role of general manager for the Northern, Central, Eastern European and Asia Regions. Prior to Camper, he worked for Nike in various category and regional sales roles, with his final role for being sales director northern Europe.

Commenting on his new role, Alonso, said: "There is a great vibe around Timberland today. It is a strong and inspiring brand and the opportunity to participate in its future growth is the perfect challenge for me."

Schmidt Eisenhart added: "He is customer focused and has experience fuelling brand-enhancing sales growth. Two key characteristics we are looking for at Timberland as we step up the business."
