Fashion discount retailer TK Maxx is hoping to acquire

25 former Comet sites as part of its expansion plans.

The value business is said to be interested in taking on 25 of the units left in the wake of Comet’s recent fall into administration. The company is reportedly up against fellow retailers Dixons, Maplin and Blockbuster, who are also hoping to acquire the units.

TJX, TK Maxx’s parent company, had previously slowed its expansion of the fascia in 2012/13, with it forecast to open a net of just nine stores by the end of the year, compared to 18 in 2011/12.
