Discount retailer TK Maxx has announced the launch of its

new ethical initiative, One Mango Tree, which aims to provide income opportunities to disadvantaged communities in Uganda. The line will offer bags, purses and aprons, produced by a group of women in Gulu, Northern Uganda, using locally-sourced cotton in tribal prints.

Each item has been personally signed by the woman who has made it and will help change not only her life but also help achieve long term improvement to the lives of their families and communities.

The bags can be found in store under the brand One Mango Tree, in 28 TK Maxx stores nationwide, with prices ranging from £3.99 for purses and £5.99 for aprons to £7.99 for the bags.

“This is part of an exciting initiative we have taken to help improve the lives of disadvantaged communities in Uganda. By promoting trade, providing skills and employment, we hope to be able to make a real difference to their lives and at the same time provide our customers with some beautiful unique products,” said Jo Murphy Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, TJX Europe.
