Trade show Novomania cancels Spring edition

The Shangai-based international fashion trade show Novomania has

canceled its upcoming edition, which was set to run from March 5 to 7. It is unknown if the three year old fashion trade show will continue.

A spokesperson for fashion trade shows organizer UBM told Sportswear International: “A major shift in the fashion retail sector in China and changing market circumstances has meant that Novomania as it was conceived could no longer address the needs of the intended participants.”

“As an organizer that endeavours to create only the most effective business platforms, we feel the need to further observe the evolution of this sector before we can devise an event to meet the expectations of the stakeholders and the community it serves, and it became a professional imperative upon us to not stage Novomania at this moment,” concluded the spokesperson.

At Novomania's previous edition, which was held summer 2013, the trade show managing director Guilherme Faria revealed plans to run the trade fair seasonally in March and September instead of annually. The trade show also announced a new show concept and theme, with extra show areas for the now called off upcoming edition.
