For the fifth consecutive year, the Triumph

Inspiration Award contest saw 16 fashion student finalists, from the London College of Fashion and De Monfort University in Leicester go head-to-head to win the opportunity to represent the UK in the International final taking place in Shanghai.

Each of the UK finalists designed a ‘catwalk showpiece’ that represents this year’s design theme of “Dragons and Butterflies” with an underlying “East meet West” concept. The UK final took place at Circus, London and student Sian Whitefoot from De Montfort was crowned the winner for the UK with her design ‘Ecliptic Renewal’.

The designs were judged by a panel, which included Poppy Delevingne, leading German design duo Felder Felder and the British Fashion Council’s Caroline Rush, and they score the designs based on strict criteria including innovation and creativity, individuality, concept, aesthetic, quality, presentation and show effect.

The UK winner, Sian, will go forward to represent the UK with 31 other international finalists in Shanghai. The overall winner of the global TIA wins a prize fund of Euros 15,000 with the 2nd and 3rd places winning Euros 10,000 and Euros 5,000 respectively.

Last year’s global winning design, “Les Fleurs du Mal” from Hungary, goes on sale in November as a limited-edition item at selected Triumph and other retail stores worldwide.
