Denim and lifestyle company True Religion Apparel has appointed former Levi’s president John Anderson

and former Gap president Marka Hansen to its board of directors.

In the past year the brand has named a new CEO and creative director and these two new additions to the board of directors is part of the label’s plans to “accelerate True Religion’s growth and transformation”.

Anderson served as president and chief executive officer of Levi Strauss & Co during his 32-year career at the company, while Hansen is the former president of Gap North America, and both are expected to aid the label in offering counsel on strategy and global operations.

“We are excited to add such talented individuals to our Board of Directors,” said David Conn, chief executive officer, True Religion. “They both bring an unparalleled understanding of the denim industry. John’s background as CEO of Levi Strauss will be a valuable asset in guiding our business strategy and global operations and Marka’s product expertise will help support the evolution of our iconic brand positioning.”

Conn added: “John and Marka will serve as a resource for our management team and we are fortunate to benefit from their insight as we continue to position True Religion for the future.”

Commenting on his appointment, Anderson said: “True Religion is a strong, iconic brand with deep roots as a leader in premium denim. David has set the company on the right path and built an outstanding management team.

“True Religion is now well-positioned to continue bringing innovation to the industry throughout its next phase of growth. I look forward to providing the mentorship that will support the company’s unique positioning and long-term success.”
