Trussardi names new creative director

Luxury label Trussardi has named Gaia Trussardi,

who is the great granddaughter of the brand's eponymous founder Dante Trussardi, as its new creative director.

Gaia, who was already creative director for the Tru Trussardi and Trussardi Jeans collections, and serves on the board, will now also be in charge of the Trussardi mainline collections and oversee all creative direction for the fashion house from design to advertising campaigns.

A statement from the company said the decision to appoint her reflected the labels "desire to strengthen the continuous evolution of the brand" and came after designer Umit Benan Sahin left his position as creative director when his two year contract expired.

The appointment also makes Trussardi a family affair, Gaia’s sister Beatrice is the president and CEO of the label, while her brother Tomaso is the CEO of TRS Evolution, the company that produces Trussardi's clothing and accessories.
