According to a new report by UCAS Media, university students in the UK are more

likely to head to the high street to purchase items of clothing (70 percent) rather than going on an online shopping spree (23 percent).

The survey of 18,440 students from the previous academic year (2013/2014) also found that students are more likely to have their interest attracted by a discounted price (42.5 percent) than loyalty rewards (16 percent) or free gifts (15 percent), reported ‘BizReport’.

On a related note, ‘click&collect’ is proving to be quite popular amongst the university students, with CollectPlus, a joint venture between retail payment network PayPoint and independent parcel carrier Yodel, recently reporting on the success of their click and collect service for students, introduced to Leeds University's on-campus store, Essentials, earlier this year.

"With online shopping very popular amongst the student demographic who have grown up with the internet and expect convenience, there's proven to be a huge appetite for click and collect and returns services on campus," says Catherine Woolfe, marketing director at CollectPlus.

"As part of our expansion strategy, we are looking to find new types of locations that suit customers' busy and variable lifestyles as a means of further improving the delivery experience for them," added Woolfe.
