UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT) chairman Peter Lucas is to step down next year after deciding not to seek
re-election.Lucas has held the position since 2008, when the industry body formed, and he will step down from his role as of May 2015. He will be replaced in May by current UKFT deputy chairman Nigel Lugg who was elected by the trade body’s board of directors last week.
Commenting on his departure, Lucas said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time serving the industry. Trade associations play a key role in helping shape the business environment in which we all operate and I am delighted that UKFT has had such a fantastic track record in helping businesses in the fashion and textile sector grow and develop.
“I know that UKFT will grow from strength to strength under a new chairman; having an active industrialist at the head of this organisation is vital in ensuring UKFT continues to represent the needs of its members.”
Upon being elected, Lugg added: "I’d like to thank Peter for all he has done for the UK Fashion and Textile Association. I am extremely honoured to take up the position of Chairman of UKFT in May 2015 and look forward to this fantastic opportunity to serve the industry."
