Italian luxury goods company Valextra has announced the departure of Chief Executive Officer Marco

Franchini.

In a statement Franchini said: “I really enjoyed the time I spent at Valextra. I think that now the company possesses the business organisation necessary to go to the next level. The warm and incredible involvement of my collaborators inspired me during this last year, when we made major steps toward the creation of solid roots for an ‘extraordinary’ brand.”

Valextra’s president Emanuele Carminati Molina has not yet named a successor, but said the company had already approached an “important figure with great experience”.

Valextra was founded in Milan in 1937 and is often cited as the Italian equivalent of Hermès. In the beginning the company specialised in creating luggage, handbags and accessories from exotic animal hides such as alligator, hippopotamus and elephant skins.
