Warm weather boosts April sales

The warm weather has reunited shoppers with the high street.

The belated arrival of Spring's sunny days saved high street clothing retailers from a disastrous Spring, according to BDO's monthly High Street Sales Tracker.

The figures show overall same-store sales grew 1.3 percent in April. The figure would have been higher had Easter fallen in April this year instead of March, BDO said.

There was an acceleration in fashion sales as the weather improved, with same-store sales rising 13 percent in the final week.
