Budding designer Michael van der Ham wasn't the only Dutch creative on the London Fashion

Week block this season. Inspired by the Nick Cave’s song 'Where the Wild Roses Grow' performed together with Kylie Minogue, Dutch design duo Spijkers en Spijkers return to the British capital for SS11. Love, beauty, innocence and ephemeral are the themes that speak through the collection making it fresh and charming.

For SS11 the designs are elegant and exciting in a delicate way. Short skirts and dresses, long loose pantsuits, light blouses and summery jackets decorated in basket silk, printed crepe de chine, silk ponge and linen blends. Each design is refined and finished with decorative details such as fabric folded roses, flower lace and beaded flower embroideries.

The Spijkers en Spijkers label launched in 2000. It’s known for rebelling against stereotypical ideas of femininity, and creating a style for modern women. Twin sisters Truus and Riet graduated from Arnhem College of Arts, and previously showed in Amsterdam and Milan.
