Yoko Ono designs for Opening Ceremony

Lennon, Yoko Ono, has designed a collection of menswear inspired by her late husband for Opening Ceremony.

The line, Fashions for Men: 1969-2012, has been inspired by a collection of drawings she created as a wedding present for Lennon in 1969, which feature illustrations of men’s tailoring, sportswear and footwear.

Ono has worked with the Opening Ceremony team to translate her illustrations into a limited edition menswear collection that includes 18 different styles of apparel, footwear and accessories, which have been limited to only 52 pieces of each style.

Highlights from the collection include trousers with a hand silhouette sewn over the crotch, a jersey jumper with eyelets cut out around the nipples, and leather boots. The collection will also be accompanied by a book featuring Ono’s drawings, and a limited run of sweatshirts, and posters featuring her artwork.

The collection will launch in Opening Ceremony’s American stores at the end of the month, before rolling out to the Tokyo store, and the newly opening London store in Covent Garden in December.
