Sales of young men's formalwear is on the rise, with high street
retailers such as Topshop successfully selling its affordable tuxedo collection.Debenhams this week unveiled sales of its young men's formalwear, stating a rise of 24 percent with boys spending nearly the same amount as girls on their prom outfits. In terms of value, boys will spend on average of 385 pounds which is 82.25 pounds less than girls.
“The amount a guy will spend on getting prom-ready is now close to rivalling a girl,” said Debenhams spokesperson Ed Watson. “However, the ladies seem to be better prepared – we have seen an increase in occasionwear sales since January, whereas guys have been rushing in last minute to get ready for the big night.”
