As we turn into a new year, there is no rest across the fashion landscape, as 2012 looks set to be a jam packed diary full of creative and consumer fun.  Historically 2012 is a standout year as we prepare for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee;

in preparation the V&A will be putting on an exhibit of around 100 Cecil Beaton photographs of Her Majesty, in February.

Retail wise, following hot on the footsteps of the sell out Versace for H&M collection, the high street chain will offer another top designer to die for collaboration when Marni, the fashion editor’s favourite, produces pieces for the store, which will hit H&M’s across the country, in March.

Whi
lst set to launch this month is ‘Karl’, an affordable, rock and roll infused collection from creative director of Fendi and Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld. "We are working on a lot of amazing ideas which are all about making luxury affordable and accessible," said Lagerfeld. Net a porter will carry the line from the end of the month.

Elsewhere some of the most celebrated designers worldwide will hit landmark anniversaries in 2012; Matthew Williamson will hit the 15 year mark, Nicole Fahri celebrates a whole 30 years in fashion, whilst Alber Elbaz will reach 10 years at Lanvin. Whilst museums across the world will be putting on exhibitions to give the public a chance to celebrate some of fashion’s most eponymous designers; the Design Museum in London will host 20 years of Christian Louboutin, Les Art
Decoratifs in Paris will bring us ‘Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs’, whilst both the V&A and the Costume Institute in New York will look at British Glamour and Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada respectively.

Looking back at decades at fashion, the roaring twenties will make its return as designers from Gucci, Etro and Alberta Ferretti will all reference foxtrot and flapper girls for Spring summer.

Whilst events wise, 2012 is of course the year of the Olympics and Stella McCartney, British Designer of the Year, will be dressing Team GB. Selfridges will be celebrating the world of Stella across January and February.

And if that wasn’t enough, there is even something for fashion hungry young ones, as Liberty opens its much anticipated childrenswear department this year. With all that 2012 looks set to be a fashion hit.
