Online fashion retailer Atterley Road is looking to expand at home and abroad after securing 2 million pounds of funding from a consortium of investors including former Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy. Investment for the fashion destination, founded by Edward David and Katie

Starmer-Smith in 2011, also comes from The William Currie Group, which has backed several successful e-commerce brands including Asos, as well as e-commerce expert Robert Willett and Artemis.

The site,

which offers a “considered edit” of contemporary yet affordable fashion brands including Day Birger et Mikkelsen, Ash, Jigsaw, Hoss Intropia and Great Plains, will use the funds to develop and expand the brand in the UK, as well as internationally, and drive the growth of its own ‘Atterley Road’ label, which currently consists of dresses, outerwear, trousers, jewellery, and accessories that are all inspired by Starmer-Smith’s London lifestyle.

Commenting on the funding, Edward David, CEO of Atterley Road said: "Securing funding from high quality investors, who have the experience and industry knowledge needed to really expand the business, can be challenging so we are delighted to have the William Currie Group, Sir Terry Leahy, Robert Willett and Artemis on board.

“Their proven experience in retail and e-commerce will be critical to the development of the brand over the next few years, and to have them as investors is a testament to what Atterley Road has achieved since its launch."

Atterley Road secures investment

Established in 2011, Atterley Road turned over more than 2 million pounds in its first 12 months, and since then it has delivered sales growth of over 100 percent year-on-year. Today, the site attracts around 200,000 visits a month and sells in more than 100 countries, including the UK, Australia and the US.

Bill Currie, chairman of the William Currie Group added: "The team at Atterley Road have built a fantastic brand with great growth potential in a very short period of time.

“They have the right foundations in place to build a great e-commerce business and we are looking forward to working with them to achieve that."
