Fashion and homewares retailer Cath Kidston, best known for its floral and ‘modern vintage’ prints, is to mark its 20th anniversary with the opening of a new flagship store in London’s Piccadilly. Opening later this year, the 7,070 square foot store will

be located in the old French railway building next to premium retailer Fortnum & Mason, and will be four times the size of a typical Cath Kidston outlet.

The
three-storey flagship, which is scheduled to open in early December in time for Christmas, will offer the brand’s typical fashion and homeware products as well as a range specific to the flagship. In addition, the store will have a café, a theatre space for “how to make it” demonstrations, and a vintage furniture section.

The retailer is also considering offering “add-ons” including a wedding list service, VIP shopping, hotel delivery and a click-and-collection area as part of the flagships “unique shopping experience”.

Piccadilly to welcome Cath Kidston flagship

Cath Kidston has signed a 10-year lease on the building, and it is hoping that the Piccadilly location will attract both die-hard fans of the brand, as well as Londoners and tourists alike, and will help build the brand’s reputation to aid its international expansion plans.

Cath Kidston CEO Kenny Wilson said: “The launch of our London flagship is an exciting step in our strategy for growth in the UK and internationally. Being able to open our biggest ever store in our 20th year marks a very significant and celebratory time for the Cath Kidston brand.

“London is the right location for our flagship, as it is where our brand originates from and it is a key global city both for UK and international customers. We chose Piccadilly as the best location for our flagship because it is a destination and the perfect place to highlight our brand to the world.

“We are taking everything we know our customers already love about Cath Kidston stores and building that into a new retail concept that will brighten up our customer’s day and showcase our brand.”

Anthea Harries, portfolio manager at landlord The Crown Estate, which is currently developing the Piccadilly area as an extension to Regent Street, added: “We are delighted to welcome Cath Kidston to St James’s, where they will be opening their unique London flagship store in this special part of London’s West End – an area perfectly positioned given its iconic British status and global appeal.”

In another move to raise its international profile, the retailer is to open a pop-up store at Heathrow Terminal 3 later this week, offering a selection of the brand’s travel and gift items.
