High street retailer, Debenhams completes its array of mobile apps with the launch of its iPad version today, October 20. The free-to-download, fully-transactional app follows on from the success of the iPhone version that launched a year

ago and the subsequent launches of the Nokia and Android mobile apps and mobile site, which has seen combined sales of £3m and over 700,000 downloads to date.

The
Debenhams iPad app has been designed to fill the needs of the ‘tech-saavy, on-the-go consumer’, and is well timed considering Debenhams.com saw iPad visits overtake iPhone for the first time in August.

The iPad app allows customers to shop the full Debenhams range, via product category and brand along with a range of editorial content, trend highlights and style advice across all departments such as the latest look books, and regularly updated Top 10 items as selected by the retailer’s fashion editor and customers.

“People are increasingly embracing new technology and tablets in particular are increasing in popularity. In the last month alone, traffic to Debenhams.com from iPads was more than double that of the iPhone,” says Simon Forster, Director of Debenhams.com. “As shopping on the move becomes ever more popular and common place and we needed to ensure we were keeping up with their shopping habits.”

The key highlight of the iPad app is the unique gift finder, released in time for Christmas it can solve any present conundrums. The app also features automatic feeds from the Debenhams blog and Twitter, and users can create and share wish lists with friends on social platforms and e-mail.

Debenhams has 167 stores in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Denmark; and offers a wide range of products across womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, lingerie, accessories, health and beauty, homeware and gifts.
