British fashion designer Paul Smith is to be the subject of a major exhibition at the Design Museum, later this year, aimed at celebrating his career to date, and giving his fans an insight into his world of “creation, inspiration, collaboration,

wit and beauty”.

Curated by
Donna Loveday, the exhibition entitled ‘Hello, My Name Is Paul Smith’ will run at the design museum from November until March, 2014, and is expected to be as popular as last year’s fashion exhibition at the museum dedicated to Christian Louboutin, which broke all previous visitor figure records.

The exhibition will take visitors on a journey through Paul Smith’s world and will include recreations of the designer’s first shop in Nottingham, which measured three-metre-by-three-metre, as well as his personal office, known for containing a myriad of books and objects that he uses for inspiration.

Other highlights include a section showcasing and celebrating the brand through collections, selected by the designer himself, which will be showcased alongside the various stages of design and production, highlighting how the principles of traditional craftsmanship of tailoring and techniques are retained but given a contemporary edge.

There will also be projections, audio and film clips from his fashion shows, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the brand, and a look at his many shop interiors from around the world, which are all unique.

Hello My Name is Paul Smith opens at the Design Museum from November 15 to March 9, and will be accompanied by a book published by Rizzoli and an app.
