Anemian romantic collection wins over the jury
Margareta van den Bosch, who was previously H&M's head of design for 20 years before becoming creative adviser, agrees with Johansson adding: "Eddy's collection was both modern and romantic. You really need to see the pieces up close to see the complexity of his work."As winner of the H&M design award, Anemian has been given a 50.000 grant, in addition to the 5.000 euros he was given as one of the eight finalists and a mentorship from Johansson. The 24 year old student will also have the opportunity to develop chosen pieces from his collection for an in-store collaboration with H&M, which is set to go on sale later this fall in selected stores.
Last year's winner of the award was South Korean designer Minju Kim, who studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, while the winner of the design awards first edition was London College of Fashion graduate Stine Rijs. H&M first launched the design award in 2012, which is open to students at fourteen international fashion institutions in six countries, including London College of Fashion, Central Saint Martins and The Royal College of Arts in London.
The people's prize from the H&M design award went to Henriette Tilanus, a student at Artez in Arnhem, the Netherlands, who was awarded a three-month internship at fashion designer Erdem's studio.
