German trade fair company Messe Frankfurt added a new segment to its portfolio by acquiring one of Europe’s largest sustainable exhibitions the Ethical Fashion Show in Paris. Its French subsidiary is taking on the preparations together with

the current Ethical Fashion Show team to internationalise the next edition.

The
first edition of the Ethical Fashion Show took place in 2004 with only 20 brands. Initially the exhibition was launched by a budding designer platform for ethical fashion called Universal Love Association brainchild of Isabelle Quéhé. Today, the exhibition presents ethical fashion brands in prêt-a-porter, sportswear, couture adult and child creations, and is dedicated to both professionals and the public. Over 3000 visitors and 100 exhibitors across the globe are expected at the meeting place for including Veja, Les Fées, Ombre Claire, Ethos Paris, Terra Plana, Susan Wagner to name but a few.

The event exclusively focuses on ecological, socially responsible and environmentally friendly garment production. A varied programme will give visitors an overview of the new trends in ethical fashion by offering catwalk shows, workshops, photo exhibitions and specialist seminars discussing the challenge of vegetable colours, and investigating if textile innovation is unequivocally compatible with the principles of sustainable management.

In a press conference Isabelle Quéhé said that for the future Messe Frankfurt is looking to further develop its activities on an international level with projects in Milan, New York and Barcelona. They want to support sustainable brands, in order for them to build on their brand awareness and further develop their company. Other then that Messe Frankfurt acknowledges that the number of sustainable companies is growing.

Messe Frankfurt is responsible for 31 textile fairs around the world. The 7th edition of Ethical Fashion Show is taking place from 25-28th September at Cité de la mode et du Design Quai in Paris.
