Fashion Fringe, the leading platform supporting emerging fashion talent in the UK, has announced that in March it will be embarking on a regional tour of Britain. The fashion platform will be taking a selection of UK’s tops fashion designers

including Christopher Kane and Giles Deacon to fashion universities across the country to share their own career experiences.

Coinciding
with the call for applications for the 2012 Fashion Fringe award, which opens on March 12, the tour will visit Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Nottingham and Brighton, before finishing up in London.

The aim of the road show is to recognise that not all fashion industry professionals and students can be based in London, which is the home of Fashion Fringe, and the tour is to help further connect the UK regions with the London fashion scene.

Fashion Fringe is inviting young fashion professionals from each region to join its line-up, which also includes designers: Gareth Pugh, Matthew Williamson, Julien MacDonald and Erdem. The panel is hoping to represent all areas of the fashion industry from buying and merchandising to blogging and journalism; with each panellist sharing their own career experiences, and offering advice to those trying to break into any face of the industry, and attendees will be able to address the speakers during a Q&A session.

Colin McDowell commented: “In recognising that not all fashion industry professionals and students can be based in London, we hope that our tour of the country will help to further connect the UK regions with the London fashion scene. Fashion Fringe designers come to us from a huge range of countries and we want to ensure this level of diversity is reflected within our own borders as well.”

As well as University students, Fashion Fringe is inviting attendees from the local area who work within fashion or have aspirations to do so. All events will be free to students, with limited tickets available for other members of the public.

Before the regional tour takes to the road Fashion Fringe 2011 winners Fyodor Golan will present their autumn/winter 2012 collection during London Fashion Week later this month.
