Fashion stars nominated in Dulux’s colour awards

Paint giant Dulux has announced the launch of its inaugural Let’s Colour Awards, to recognise talent across the fashion and beauty, home and interiors, technology and design, and arts industries for their use of colour over the past year.



Among
the list of coveted awards is Best use of Colour in Fashion & Beauty, which will see House of Holland, Louise Gray for Topshop, Sister by Sibling, and Uniqlo up against beauty talents Sophy Robson for her Olympic nail art and Aura-Soma’s coloured oil.

London Fashion Week designer Louise Gray has also received nominations for her Contribution to Colour, in Dulux’s lifetime achievement category, as well as in the Colour Ambassador award, up against fellow designer Henry Holland, and fashion blogger Susie Bubble, which will reward the person has been championing bolder fashion decisions in their own use of colour.

The grand finale to the awards is for the Colour Moment of the Year, which includes The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant, the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, as well as the closing ceremony that featured British models showcasing British fashion designs.

Commenting on the launch, Marianne Shillingford, Dulux Creative Director, said: “Colour is a powerful tool in communicating personality, mood and expression and inspires us all in different ways.

“We believe the people who inspire us through original use of colour deserve to be applauded and we hope the awards will encourage others to be equally creative with colour, whether they are an established company or a start-up designer.”

The shortlist was put together by a judging panel that including fashion stylist Richard Sloan, fashion blogger Emily Johnston of Fashion Foie Gras, Daily Mirror fashion director Amber Morales, Ben Spriggs who is associate editor of Sunday Times Style, and photographer Kirsty Mitchell.

The winners will be announced at an event in February.
