American womenswear label, Free People, which is part of the Urban Outfitter’s group, is making its UK debut this week, with the launch of its fully transactional UK e-commerce site. Launching today, November 5, at www.freepeople.co.uk, the

website will offer the label’s apparel, intimates and accessory ranges, free returns in the UK, and for the first month shoppers will be introduced to its “spirited and confident” styles, with free shipping, before the flat five Pound delivery charge takes effect.

According
to the brand’s website, Free People, which is known for its seventies bohemian aesthetic, targets a “26-year-old girl” who is “smart, creative, confident and comfortable in all aspects of her being”.

Commenting on the UK launch, David Hayne, Free People’s managing director of direct and retail, said: “The website will give out loyal UK customers a more compelling, localised and convenient shopping experience. We’ve worked hard to eliminate the delivery hassles that typically come with international shopping, and we’ll be customising the experience to make it more familiar for a UK audience, while staying true to out American roots.”

In America, Free People has 77 standalone stores, including presence in all major department stores such as Bloomingdales and Nordstrom, and three wholesale showrooms - in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
