Huntsman tailors to expand womenswear

Huntsman, the Savile Row tailer that has been trading for over 160 years, has been sold to its creative director Roubi L’Roubi in December. L'Roubi acquired the business from a group of investors and shareholders and will focus the company

to expand its womenswear offer. L'Roubi, who previously worked as a couturier, will be working alongside general manager Peter Smith and head cutter Patrick Murphy.

Renowned
for his meticulous tailoring and dressmaking, L'Roubi's expertise in fitting and design has has made him a connoisseur of country and shooting attire as well as womens eveningwear.

L’Roubi said: “More and more women are seeking Savile Row tailoring. Huntsman recognised this early on. In our Bond Street atelier we look forward to offering a stronger dedicated service to women looking for excellent tailoring and fit, alongside Huntsman’s formal menswear.”

The Huntsman shop on Savile Row hop greets you with two iconic stags’ heads, dating back to the 1920s and left behind by a customer on his way to lunch. The shop carries a collection of ready to wear clothing and accessories as well as a vast selection of pattern bunches, shirtings and its own developed house tweeds and suitings.

Huntsman's rich archive of customers include producing clothing for the Courts of Europe, the military and stars of stage and screen. Most recently the wardrobe for actress Zoe Saldana who plays the lead in this year's released biopic of singer Nina Simone.
