Inditex to open first Stradivarius store in London

Stradivarius, the younger womenswear label from Spanish holding company Inditex, is set to open its first store in the UK this fall. After successfully launching a number of its other brands, including Zara, Bershka, Pull & Bear and Massimo Dutti in the UK over six years ago, Inditex is set to

introduce Stradivarius to the British market and will open its first store in Westfield Stratford, London.

The

390 square meter store is set to become the labels flagship store in the country, with its opening coming nearly a year after Stradivarius launched its online store in the UK last October. The flagship store is slated to open in time to showcase the labels autumn 2014 collections.

“Building on the existing long term relationship between Westfield and Inditex which see a number of their fashion brands at both London centres, we are very excited to announce the opening of the first Stradivarius store to the UK at Westfield Stratford City,” commented Bill Giouroukos, Westfield director of operations to Retail Times.

With its new store opening, the young womenswear label will have a total of 874 stores present in 60 different countries around the world. Stradivarius previously reported global sales of over 1 billion euros, or 813 million pounds last year for the first time, making this year pivotal for international expansion.

London's popularity among international retailers continues to increase, with 31 retailers opening their first store in the country last year, according to data from real estate firm CBRE. Recent reports from the Office for National Statistics also indicate that retail spending in the UK has grown over the past six months, with most of the growth concentrated in London.

“Westfield centres remain the first choice for international retailers looking to launch in the UK,” added Giouroukos. “The opening of Stradivarius will be an excellent addition to our strong fashion offer at Westfield Stratford City.”
