UK department store chain John Lewis has proven it is the best retailer for keeping customers happy after been named the UK’s Best Retailer at this year’s Verdict Customer Satisfaction Awards. The retailer beat off tough competition from

Bonmarché and Dunelm Mill into second and third place respectively, to reclaim the title after last year being ranked third in the country. While online retailer Amazon came in fourth and footwear retailer Brantano took fifth spot.

Each
retailer was assessed via a survey of 5,900 customers by retail analyst Verdict Research, and John Lewis achieved scores for service which exceeded that of any other retailer, while also scoring highly on product quality.

John Lewis recognised at Verdict Customer Satisfaction Awards

As well as taking home the coveted Best Retailer Award, John Lewis was also named Best Clothing for the first time ahead of Bonmarché and H&M, and Best Homewares and Best Electricals Retailer.

Verdict director of research and analysis Maureen Hinton said: “John Lewis swept the board this year coming top in all its main product categories, including for the first time, clothing. Apart from its service credentials its product ranges are delivering the inspiration and trust that customers appreciate.”

John Lewis’ retail director, Andrew Murphy, who collected the awards, commented: “It's fantastic to have our customers acknowledge the outstanding products and service that John Lewis provides so consistently.”

“It's especially exciting to be recognised in clothing and electricals where we've really built our reputation.”

Clothing retailer Bonmarché retained second place this year due to its product range and low prices keeping its customers happy.

Hinton added: “Bonmarché is awarded a high score by its customers because it provides mature women with a well-targeted range of clothing combined with good service which is not widely available elsewhere.”
