Kanye West returns to fashion

Rapper and designer Kanye West is returning to fashion with a “small” capsule collection of menswear for popular French brand A.P.C. The fashion brand announced the partnership via its social media channels with a close-up shot of a pair of jeans baring a

red A.P.C. Kanye label, accompanied by “A.P.C Kanye West Capsule Collection July 14”.

The line will feature a pair of jeans, a T-shirt and a hooded jumper and will be available from A.P.C’s online store from 10am on July 14.

In the press statement, the French brand’s creative director, Jean Touitou, explains that the rapper was introduced to him as “Kenny” by a mutual friend two years ago, when the rapper was looking for advice on the fashion industry, and that the pair have since become friends.

“Over the months, we kept hanging out and finally came up with the idea of doing a small capsule collection of clothes together,” explains Touitou. “‘Small’ meaning that this capsule collection consists of a jean, a hoodie and a T-Shirt. Those are precious to me and to Kanye too, because it took time and thoughts to get there.”

A.P.C is known for its understated branding and minimalist design, and Kanye has been a fan of the brand for a number of years as he doesn’t believe in wearing visible logos.

West’s first foray into fashion was with his own eponymous label, which showed during Paris Fashion Week for two seasons and attracted the likes of Anna Wintour, the Olsen twins and Carine Roitfeld to the front row.
