British designer Katie Eary is the next designer in line to collaborate with high-street fashion chain River Island and follows in the footsteps of designers like Eudon Choi and William Tempest in joining the stores Design Forum initiative.

Eary has developed an 18-piece collection, which echoes her street wear style and use of vibrant colors and prints. The collection is set to launch in selected stores next year on the 17th of February.

Her capsule collection for River Island was inspired by the novel turn movie, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S Thompson, which influenced Eary to use bold colors, delicate fabrics and loud accessories for her project.

“In my story it wasn't Johnny Depp on a crazy hallucinatory journey through the desert – instead it was my muse – the strong woman,” said Eary in the press release. “I then went on to design looks for her while she was on the journey. It all became very tribal dipped in gold.”

The London-based designer's collection is set to offer summery skirts with sexy splits, flowing blouses, animal print maxi dresses and asymmetrical T-shirts. The price range is set from a modest 15 pounds to 120 pounds, according to the press release.

Eary graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2008 and the first phone call she received was from British Vogue, who had Mario Testino photograph her custom-made items on iconic model Kate Moss. Since then she has collaborated with Kanye West and started up her own eponymous fashion house, designing men's and women's collections.

"River Island connects to the cool type of women which suits my project; all those independent, sexy, powerful women who frequent River Island," concluded Eary. "Naturally, I thought that we were a perfect match."

The Royal College of Art Alumni already offered their congratulations to their graduate Katie via Facebook, adding "roll on February 17th."
