LFW to host Scandinavian showcase

For the first time during London Fashion Week, more than 40 labels and designers from Denmark, Norway and Sweden including By Malene Birger, Haaning & Htoon and Dagmar will present their collections as part of the ‘Fashion Scandinavian’
showcase at Somerset House.Opening on
The exhibition will also include a curated section focusing on four up-and-coming designers from each country, ‘Fashion Scandinavia – Movement’, which is part of the International Fashion Showcase organised by the British Council and the British Fashion Council.
Designers taking from Denmark are Anne Sofie Madsen, Astrid Andersen, Freya Dalsjö , and Trine Hav Christensen, while representing Norway is Ingvild Abrahamsen, Kristofer Kongshaug, Paa Luis Sanchez and Trami Ngo. The four emerging designers from Sweden completing the ‘Fashion Scandinavia – Movement’ line-up are Altewaisaome, Johanna Pihl, Lamija Suljevic and Sofia Bahlner.
In addition to the exhibition, Somerset House will also have a new bar and lounge, named the Craftsmen's Lounge, which will feature design displays and iconic furniture by leading Scandinavian cabinetmakers, as well as offering drinks from Scandinavian gourmet brewers, micro distilleries and winemakers.
"Fashion Scandinavia, heralds a new movement in fashion - the arrival of Scandinavian designers onto the world scene," said curator Gundtoft. "With attention to detail and high quality of materials that are so iconic in Scandinavian design, this will be the first and largest exhibition and showroom space at an International Fashion Week yet. On top of it, it will be presented at the centre of London Fashion Week - Somerset House. It's a very exciting moment!"
Scandinavian Fashion will be on display at Somerset House from February 15-19.
