Scandinavian fashion chain Lindex, which is launching a collaboration with Jean Paul Gaultier this autumn, has confirmed that it is to open its first UK store at Westfield Stratford, London. Opening in the spring of 2015, the new store marks an “important step” in strengthen the fashion chain’s brand

internationally, as it looks to continue its international expansion plans.

Chief executive Ingvar Larsson explained: “This is a great day in our history. We have longed to offer our affordable and inspiring fashion in an exciting city like London, one

of the world’s most attractive shopping destinations.”

The company said the store design will offer a modern shopping environment that highlights the brand’s Scandinavian heritage, in what is thought to be an 8,000 square foot unit. The retailer also noted that it would be opening up a local distribution centre in the UK to allow the store to be replenished quicker with stock. No further details on the centres size or location were given.

Larsson added: “We strive to offer a world-class fashion experience, both in-store and online. This includes everything from interior decoration and service level to the fashion we offer and how we present it. Having a good store location along with an online store allows us to reach a wide range of customers starting from day one.”

The UK debut store will support the brand’s online store, which currently offers local currency options for UK customers. Lindex operates around 470 stores in 16 countries throughout northern and eastern Europe and the Middle East, offering clothing and accessories for women, men and children. 2014 marks the retailer’s 60th anniversary.
