London Business School offers Luxury Management course

London Business School will be launching a special course in Luxury Management in association with Walpole British Luxury and law firm Charles Russell. The full-time programme will begin next spring and is focused on students who are aiming

to work in the luxury industry in a managerial role.

British Luxury teams up with LBS for special programme

This is the first programme of its kind to take place at the school. Application for the course is open to all full-time MBA students at the school. A committee consisting of the school’s faculty member and senior executives from Walpole member brands will select 12 students for the course, based on their skills and passion for the industry. The programme will offer students a foundation for academic learning and development, as well as a number of lectures from the leading electives in the luxury industry. Students on the course will receive mentoring from Walpole member companies and have the chance intern at luxury businesses such as Harrods, Net-A-Porter, Alexander McQueen and Selfridges.

The course was officially announced on Tuesday, during an opening ceremony. The Executive Director for MBA at London Business School, Gareth Howells announced that the programme was originally initiated due to the increasing amount of students has who have shown interested in the luxury industry. He went to add that: "London is the home of British luxury and our students will have a unique opportunity to gain access to some of the top brands in the industry." The school’s dean, Andrew Likierman went on to add that the programme will help student over come barriers in the luxury industry and allow them to start networking before they enter the sector. Mark Henderson, Chairman of Gieves and Hawkes went on to add that: “As the British Luxury Industry becomes more and more significant – with its massive value to the economy and the ‘soft power’ of Britain – it is critical that management skills are available to meet the demands of a complex, challenging but highly attractive business.”

The deadline for students who wish to apply for the new course at London Business School is the 4th of November.
