LVMH Prize goes to Thomas Tait

Thomas Tait has won the inaugural LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize, 300,000 euros and a year of coaching. Canadian-born Tait was educated in both Montreal and London. Thomas Tait debuted his first collection in the fall of 2010. At 24 he was the youngest student to complete the Central

g an international business and his wholesale clients include Louis Boston, Jeffrey, Blake in Chicago, Corso Como in Milan and Boon and Space Mue in Seoul.

First LVMH price winner named

The LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize winner was named at a press conference today at the headquarters of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. Other finalists were CG by Chris Gelinas, Gabriele Colangelo, Shayne Oliver’s Hood by Air, Simon Porte Jacquemus, Miuniku by sisters Nikita and Tina Sutradhar, Tillmann Lauterbach, Tim Coppens, Simone Rocha, Vika Gazinskaya, and Suno by Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis.

On the jury sat Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Nicolas Ghesquière, Raf Simons, Phoebe Philo and Riccardo Tisci, Kenzo’s creative duo Humberto Leon and Carol Lim and Delphine Arnault, who spearheaded the prize initiative, along with LVMH executives Pierre-Yves Roussel and Jean-Paul Claverie.
