Margin, the longest running independent fashion trade event in London, has announced via its website that it will not hold a spring 2013 edition this summer. The organisers said in a statement: “With the London 2012 Olympics taking place on

the traditional tradeshow dates in August, we’ve decided to skip a season.

We celebrated
10 Years of Margin in February 2012, so we feel we’ve justifiably earned a season’s break after devoting 10 years to bringing new and emerging brands together with buyers and press.”

The streetwear tradeshow, which attracts brands such as Supremebeing, Lazy Oaf, Sugarhill Boutique, Eastpak Apparel, and New Love Club, will return with its autumn 2013 show in February.

The statement added: “We know from talking to stores that not all the relevant buyers will be in London for one particular date and many international buyers have planned to visit different London events on different dates for different men’s or women’s events.

“This means there isn’t a prime calendar slot to give new and emerging designers the best opportunity to meet with as many of these stores as possible this season. We’re being realistic to help new and young designers save their exhibition budget for a stronger debut on a prime dateline.”

In the season break Margin organisers said that they will be concentrating on ongoing projects including STRADD, the indie shop search app that promotes independent stores.

The next edition of Margin is scheduled to take place on February 10-11 at The Music Rooms on London’s South Molton Street.
