British designer Matthew Williamson has announced that he is collaborating with heritage knitwear brand Ballantyne Cashmere on a one-off capsule collection. Ballantyne Cashmere, the British brand founded in 1921, is renowned

 for its luxury knitwear crafted from the finest wool and cashmere yarns and the Williamson collection will be produced entirely in Italy and Scotland.


While few details about the capsule line have been released, Williamson confirmed that the collection has been inspired by British heritage and will comprise of knitwear styles for both men and women, and as the preview sketch suggests his signature style of using prints and colour will feature.

Ballantyne Cashmere CEO, Franco Natalucci said: “We are thrilled with the choice of Matthew Williamson as creative director of this capsule collection, in addition to our British roots both brands share a genuine love of quality and luxury workmanship.”

Williamson added: “It was a privilege to work with Ballantyne, an iconic brand possessing such a rich British heritage. Ballantyne have a great appreciation of style and craftsmanship which truly complements the Matthew Williamson brand.”

The collection will be available from July 2013 and will be unveiled at an international preview at 10 Corso Como in February during Milan Fashion Week.
