Men’s fashion weeks in Milan and Paris are shifting the dates to later in January to keep the beginning of the menswear buying cycle to a "safety distance" from the Christmas holidays so that journalists and buyers don’t disrupting their holiday season. Florence-based international trade

show Pitti Uomo, Italy’s Camera della Moda and Paris’ Fédération Française de la Couture have agreed to shift their dates of their men’s fashion weeks and set them for the next three years to avoid any overlap in the January schedule.

In 2015, Pitti’s four-day showcase will run from January 13-16, while Milan Men’s Fashion Week will take place from January 17-20, followed by Paris Men’s Fashion Week from January 21-25. That’s leaves only London Collections: Men left to set their dates, with Pitti hoping that they will avoid the two-day overlap that happen this January.

Commenting on the new schedule, Mario Boselli, president of CNMI, said: “It will bring order to the international men’s fashion calendar and thus will facilitate tasks of the members of the trade, especially the top buyers from outside Europe.

“The French organizers agreed with the Italian system’s reasons that were excellently presented thanks to our fine teamwork with Pitti Immagine, proving that there is indeed an harmonious European network which understands the needs of the international market.”

Gaetano Marzotto, president of Pitti Immagine, added: “We worked on this for months with the Camera and with the strong support of the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana and the Sistema Moda Italia. After this demonstration of consistency on the part of our French colleagues, for whom we have the greatest respect, we still have to reach an agreement with the British Fashion Council to avoid the interference between London Collection Men and Pitti Immagine Uomo. Now there is room on the calendar and I trust in their good sense: the two-day overlap last January had a negative impact on everyone.”

The London Fashion Week dates have not yet been disclosed, however it has been reported that the British Fashion Council will be meeting with Pitti Immagine and Camera this week.

In 2016 the shows will run: Pitti Immagine Uomo - January 12-15; Milan Men’s Fashion Week -January 16-19; and Paris Men’s Fashion Week – January 20-24. In 2017 the dates will be: Pitti Immagine Uomo - January 10-13; Milan Men’s Fashion Week -January 14-17; and Paris Men’s Fashion Week – January 18-22.
