The British Fashion Council has named designer labels Agi & Sam and Astrid Andersen among its Newgen Men recipients who will receive sponsorship to showcase their Spring/Summer 2014 collections at London Collections: Men in June.

Emerging

They join Lee Roach, Matthew Miller and Shaun Samson, who have all been given show sponsorship, while Martine Rose, who debut her first catwalk collection as part of Fashion East, has been awarded Newgen presentation sponsorship.

Each chosen designer was selected by a panel of industry leaders, which this season, included Topman’s creative director Gordon Richardson, BFC’s CEO Caroline Rush, as well as representatives from retailers Matches Fashion and Mr Porter, and publications Dazed & Confused, GQ, and Style.com.

In addition to receiving sponsorship to present their Spring/Summer 2014 collections, each brand also receives tailored business and mentoring support, which aims to increase the success of their businesses commercially, and showcasing at London Collections: Men is designed to help each brand build relationships with key press and buyers.

Newgen Men announces its latest menswear stars

Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, said: “The designers participating represent the best of Britain’s exceptional emerging talent and with support for six catwalk shows and one presentation; this season’s Newgen Men is set to be even more exciting than ever before.”

Topman’s Gordon Richardson added: “The momentum, kudos and international support that London Collections: Men has gained so rapidly after such a small period of time plays testament to the quality of the British Fashion scene and the rising stars it is producing.

“NewGen Men is fundamental in the nurturing process and this season is stronger than any other season with all the designers but one having graduated from the Topman and Fashion East MAN event. Agi & Sam are definitely hot names to watch but I'm also really looking forward to seeing what Astrid has created for SS14”.

Launched in 2009, the Newgen Men talent scheme, sponsored by Topman, was developed to build on the success of Topman and Fashion East’s Man initiative, and has gone on to support designers including Christopher Shannon, James Long, J.W. Anderson and Sibling.

Earlier this week Topman and Fashion East announced their SS14 line-up, the catwalk showcase will feature three designers - Craig Green, who returns for a second season, and newcomers Bobby Abley and Alan Taylor. They will also be showcasing during London Collections: Men which runs from June 16 to 18.
