Menswear label Oliver Spencer is adding womenswear to his line for the first time with an Autumn/Winter capsule collection. Designed to complement and enhance the labels menswear offering, the collection inspired by the influential 20th

century German artist, Joseph Beuys, fuses the brand’s “strong British aesthetic with a twist of Parisian glamour”.

“It’s
for a woman who is sure of her own style and who appreciates quality fabric and detailing,” explained Spencer. “She appreciates something beautiful that is made to last. It’s clothing that you want to look after.”

Spencer, a self-taught tailor, launched his label in 2002 and his ability to merge streetwear with traditional tailoring has gained him a popular following not only among men but also women. Even though until now there haven’t been dedicated pieces for women, it is understood that the brand has been selling ‘small’ styles for a number of seasons, which has led to the brand broaden its offering.

The debut collection for AW13 offers his distinct design aesthetic by taking the masculine fabrics and shapes of the menswear line and making them “a bit more feminine”, according to the designer. Key pieces include military-inspired trench coats, denim shirts with Peter Pan collars, shirt dresses, high waisted skirts, pleated front wool trousers and an oversized navy duffle coat.

The collection is available from the brand’s standalone stores in London as well as online and retails from 59 pounds for a boatneck T-shirt to 390 pounds for a wool coat.
