Luxury leather goods and lifestyle brand Osprey London has opened its central London flagship store on Regent Street, housed in a Grade II listed building. The 5,000 square foot store, which was formerly a Barclay’s bank, spans across two floor, and houses the wider Osprey London

and O.S.P Osprey collections for both men and women, as well as limited edition bags and accessories specific to the London store, and the brand’s Osprey Home furniture.

Graeme Ellisdon, founder and creative director of Osprey London said: “As one of the most important cities in the world, we consider this move into London a significant milestone in the company’s growth.

“The new flagship store embodies the core brand values that tie the different collections and lifestyle categories of the brand together – a love of natural materials, traditional techniques and a robust sense of design.”

Designed to be “welcoming” like a home, the 1 million pound store offers leather goods, jewellery, fashion and interior pieces on the ground floor described as the brand’s “place in town”, while the feel of the basement is very much Osprey London’s “place in the country” with a concept that mirrors the informal St Albans lifestyle store offering homeware, furniture and housing the Saddlery Cafe.

To celebrating the opening of its central London flagship the brand has launched the new Equestrian Leather collection that will be exclusive to the store. The range features 16 saddlery-inspired leather bag styles for men and women as well as accessories including iPad cases, grooming sets and watch cases.

Commenting on the new store, James Cooksey, head of St James’s Portfolio at The Crown Estate, which owns the building, added: “For Osprey London to open its flagship store at our new St James’s Gateway building and a strong endorsement of our commitment to refining St James’s retail offer and attracting distinctive new businesses to the area. As a modern British brand, it is a perfect fit and we are delighted.”

Ellisdon established Osprey London in 1980 with an investment of just 500 pounds. Osprey London collections are now stocked in department stores including John Lewis, as well as within the brand’s eight outlet stores across the UK, and its out-of-town lifestyle store in St Albans.
