Pentland Brands named as ‘Great Place to Work’

Pentland Brands, the sports and fashion group which own Berghaus, Canterbury of New Zealand, Speedo, Boxfresh, Brasher, Ellesse, Kangaroos, Mitre, Prostar and Red or Dead, has been voted as one of the UK’s top 10 Best Workplaces 2014 in the Best Larger Company category by the Great

Place to Work Institute (GPTW).

The group, which is also the majority owner of JD Sports Fashion plc, employs more than 1,200 people, and was the only sports, outdoor or fashion brand-owner to make the 2014 list and were ranked higher than any other retailer, brand owner or marketing company featured in the nominations.

Ranked eighth in the list, Pentland was listed alongside well-known names including Capital One, Microsoft, eBay, Hyatt and Diageo who also made the top 10 in the Best Larger Company category.

Best Workplaces 2014 is selected based on an independent GPTW employee survey and analysis of various aspects of the organisational culture. Pentland Brand’s employees participated in the global survey and 84 percent stated it was a “great place to work” with 81 percent citing a sense of community and pride in working for the company. Additionally, in the survey, the word “family” was used many times by people describing what makes Pentland Brands a pleasant place to work.
