Portobello Market, the hub of London’s Notting Hill community, will host for four weekends only a pop-up market showcasing new fashion and accessories designed by fashion students and graduates. The new pop-up market, named “Fresh Fashion

Flash”, launches on Saturday 16th October and will give an open design and commercial platform to new talent, while giving shoppers at Portobello Market the opportunity to discover and support young designers. “The fashion industry is highly competitive, so we want to give young designers a chance to get their designs seen by the public and to experience selling in a market environment,” said Maurice Nixon, Market Owner.

Nixon continued: “It’s important to support up and coming talent and we think Portobello Market is the perfect place to nurture creativity and showcase unique fashion”.

A host of students and graduates from London College of Fashion, Ravensbourne, Kensington and Chelsea College, University of Westminster, University of East London and UCA, amongst others, are set to take part in the pop-up market to promote and sell their collections.

Portobello Market, best-known for its vintage fashion and unique clothing, has always supported up and coming talent and has been the launch pad for many successful and established designers today, including Sass & Bide, Anna Lou of London and Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Jimmy Choo Tamara Mellon.

The stalls are being offered to the participants free of charge and there are high hopes for the pop-up market to become more of a permanent fixture if its first-run proves a success.

The new Notting Hill Bag designed by Natalie Imbruglia will also be available to buy at the market – they are limited edition, so shoppers are encouraged to get their bags while stocks last.
