Iconic French ballet-shoe brand Repetto has unveiled its inaugural ready-to-wear collection, inspired by dancers’ clothing. Designed by Emilie Luc-Duc, artistic director at Rodier and veteran of Vanessa Bruno, Dior Baby and Anne-Valérie Hash,

the 18-piece collection consists of tops, skirts and dresses in a colour palette that mimics that of a dancers’ wardrobe featuring soft pastels, white, red and black.

A highlight
of the collection is the reinvention of the ballet dancer’s tutu, which has been recreated in a knitted dress that features a sleeveless top in a thick and shiny yarn, teamed with a transparency striped tulle skirt that sits over fluid crepe – designed to embody a ballerina figure.

Commenting on the launch, Repetto's chief executive officer Jean-Marc Gauchet said: "We see a big enthusiasm for ballet. After ballet flats and leather goods, [ready-to-wear] was important to complete the silhouette."

It is hoped that the launch will help Repetto to significantly grow, and with that aim the footwear brand has just completed an extension at its Dordogne, France-based factory, to its triple production.

In addition, Repetto has also announced that it is revamping its Rue de la Paix store in Paris, which will double in size to allow room for the ready-to-wear collection and will reopen in March 2013.

The ready-to-wear collection is available online and in selected Repetto stores across France, as well as the brand’s newly opened standalone stores in the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, and the Philippines.
