Republic signs up to Facebook Deals

UK fashion chain, Republic, is the latest brand to sign up to the Facebook Deals initiative. This tool allows social network users to access special promotions and exclusive offers when they ‘login’ on their mobile phones, whilst in one of Republic’s

stores. In a bid to enhance and develop its social media offerings, Republic is following suit behind other mainstream retailers such as Debenhams, who have also signed up to the initiative.

Natalie Primus, Head of Social Media at Republic, said: “We wanted to drive increased and repeat footfall by rewarding and incentivising our customers - Facebook Deals allows us to do this quickly and efficiently.”

To start with, discounts of up to 20 per cent, which can be redeemed at the point-of-sale in-store once they have checked-in, will be available from today to Republic customers using the services.

It’s all part of the shopping revolution currently happening of which Facebook is a strong part – Asos.com even opened a fully integrated Facebook store at the start of 2011.

Mobile and Facebook commerce provider One Iota implemented and managed Republic’s integration with the initiative, and is keen to highlight and promote the advantages for retailers in further engagement of social media. One Iota’s CEO Damian Hanson commented: “Facebook Deals provides bricks and mortar retail stores with a huge opportunity to create new customers and drive loyalty.


“The ability to attract custom through ‘local Facebook commerce’ is something that can’t be ignored. Facebook Deals is destined to become a key component in the multichannel strategy, fuelled by the growth in social media consumption through mobile devices.”
