Revolver Retail is opening its ‘Rex’ concept and box store in Liverpool, designed to bring together independent retailers in a shared retail and work space this week. Spanning 5,000 square feet, the ‘Rex’ store opens today in the George Henry Lee building on Church Street in the city centre, and offers fashion,

health and beauty, homewares, kids and toys, art, and bespoke items from more than 40 retailers.

Alishia Thomas-Jackson from Revolver Retail said: “Rex is a unique home for innovative businesses that allows traders to sell their products or provide services in a stress-free environment.

The concept is simple but brand-new not only to Liverpool, but to the North West – we provide retail space and boxes that act as a platform for traders to display their goods in our mini-emporium.”

Revolver Retail specialises in pop-up stores and short-term retail lets and was recently winners of the ‘Best Original Start-Up’ category at Merseyside Independent Business Awards 2014 and the ‘Rex’ concept will be offering brands short-term, flexible and pop-up leases for space within the store.

With no long-term commitments or ties into long lease contracts the concept store will allow retailers and brands to test out new products, services and even 'concepts'. All the brands will need to be responsible for their designated area, including merchandising and stock inventory management, the ‘Rex’ landlord will be responsible for the day to day operational running of the store including all bills such as lighting and heating, plus looking after all epos, stock, invoices and till systems, as well as the general marketing and promotion of the store.

Matt Bell from Revolver Retail added: “Rex reflects the exciting nature of Liverpool and represents an unrivalled shopping experience in the city. We’re going to remodel people’s understanding of a retail destination with our collection of outstanding businesses that occupy such a unique space.”

Businesses taking advantage of the new concept includes emerging fashion brand StickU, eco-friendly kidswear designer Katherine Caldwell Illustrated Collections, coffee entrepreneurs Quills Coffee, and gift retailer MYNE Boutique by Ilsa Parry.

The ‘Rex’ concept store opens to the public on Friday, October 10.
