Alessandro Dell’Acqua has been confirmed as the new creative director at Rochas, replacing designer Marco Zanini, who was announced as the new creative director of legendary fashion house Schiaparelli. In a statement by Rochas, they confirmed the

arrival of Dell’Acqua as a “new chapter” for the label, while adding that the Italian designer will still be continuing with his own brand, No.21, which showcased its latest collection in Milan. Dell’Acqua’s first collection for Rochas will be presented in Paris in February 2014.

"I'm
excited about this collaboration. Rochas is synonymous with French sophistication and a couture spirit, and as a designer I could not ask for anything more inspiring," said Dell'Acqua. "Working for a maison with such a historical heritage is a rare opportunity and I feel grateful it was given to me."

Marco Zanini confirmed as Schiaparelli creative director

Zanini, who had helmed Rochas for five years and presented his last collection for the fashion house last week during Paris Fashion Week, has been confirmed as the new creative director of newly revived couture house Schiaparelli following months of speculation.

In a statement Zanini said: "My mission is to make the name of Schiaparelli resound in both the present and the future. The emotional link to this project is very strong for me and reflective of my admiration for the intelligent and innovative personality of Elsa Schiaparelli.

“Through her designs she was able to anticipate the trends of her time but with a relevance to daily living, approaching creativity from a different point of view. One which is still significant today. My wish is to revive the incredible aesthetic of this iconic Couture house."

His appointment was first rumoured back in April this year, along with other designers including John Galliano and Erdem. Prior to joining Rochas, Zanini worked in the design teams at fashion houses including Versace, Halston and Dolce & Gabbana.
