Other fashion names nominated include Burberry, who will take on Net-a-Porter and Astley Clarke to retain the ‘Luxury Brand Online’ accolade that they won last year, while Alexander McQueen has been nominated along with Thomas Pink for ‘British Luxury Brand Overseas’.
Victoria Beckham has also been recognised for her design talent, the singer-turned-designer is nominated alongside Paul Smith and Stephen Webster for the ‘British Luxury Design Talent’ honour, while the ‘International Luxury Brand’ award will be contested by Michael Kors, Dior, Gucci and Leica.
Walpole announces nominations for 2013 awards
One of the most tightly contested awards will be the ‘Emerging British Luxury Brand’ award, which includes London Fashion Week favourite Mary Katrantzou up against newly appointed Loewe creative director, J.W. Anderson, and luxury footwear designer Nicholas Kirkwood, who was has just received an investment from LVMH, as well as jewellery designer Hannah Martin and menswear footwear label, Mr Hare.Ben Hughes, chairman of Walpole British Luxury said: “The Walpole Awards for Excellence are one of the most anticipated events in the luxury calendar. They are an opportunity to celebrate the incredible talent within the industry, and the brands and individuals who embody all that ‘excellence’ represents.”
The Walpole Awards of Excellence are decided by a panel of judges, which this year includes BFC’s Caroline Rush, Harrods MD Michael Ward, and Thomas Pink CEO & president Jonathan Heibron. The ceremony will take place on November 18 at the Banqueting House, Whitehall.
