Whilst women are less likely to return goods bought online, a new survey shows an average of 10 outfits are tried prior to making a purchase. While only one in 10 items of clothing tried on by women in UK clothing stores end up being bought,

the average woman also spends around 40 pounds a month on clothes which she will never wear.

Many women
struggle to find their personal style

The survey, which was conducted by VoucherCodesPro.co.uk further revealed UK women struggle to define their personal style. Only 39 percent of the 2,000 who were questioned claimed to be confident about knowing which clothes and accessories suited their look and figure.

However, 81 percent also said they enjoyed shopping for clothes.

One in 10 said they went shopping on a daily basis, while the same proportion said they bought 'fashion' items once a week. Some 40 percent said they were most likely to shop for clothing every fortnight. The remaining number said they went shopping around once a month.

Forty-five percent of the women said they preferred to buy their clothes on the internet, compared with 38 percent who still liked to shop in-store.

When asked to evaluate how much they spent on unworn or returned fashion-related items, 37 percent said the cost was 'between 20 and 40 pounds each month.
