Topshop confirms German expansion

This September Topman and Topshop will launch into Germany within department store Karstadt, with a similar ‘shop-in-shop’ partnership that it has with Nordstrom in America. The British fashion retailers will open within Karstadt’s

premium stores KaDeWe Berlin and Oberpollinger Munich, as well as at the Karstadt flagships in Düsseldorf and Hamburg. Each department store will house two 150 square metre ‘shop-in-shop’ concepts for Topshop and Topman offering a wide range of both brands collections.

Commenting on the expansion, a Topshop spokesperson said: “After trading for two years now within the German market with our online businesses we are excited to be partnering with KaDeWe and Karstadt to bring the virtual into reality with a specific edit from our vast ranges.

“Long term this will also provide us with further learning to ultimate bring Topshop and Topman finally to the German market both online and offline in its own right.”

Topshop to open within Karstadt in Germany

Karstadt is one of Germany’s leading retail companies, with 86 stores, and the addition of Topshop and Topman is part of the department store’s 2015 strategy and its new national campaign, ‘Feel London’, which focuses on its new international lifestyle labels.

The launch of the 'Feel London' campaign coincides with the opening of Topshop and will take place on September 4 with a big event in its Düsseldorf Store.

Arcadia’s Topshop and Topman currently has more than 500 outlets in UK und 230 franchise stores in 30 countries, and last month the group opened its first store in China in Hong Kong.
